Nanogen has successfully tested the Covid-19 vaccine on mice and monkeys in June 2020 and will coordinate with the Military Medical Academy to officially recruit volunteers to participate in the first phase of Vietnam’s COVID-19 vaccine trial on December 10, 2020.
Sharing with the press, Mr. Ho Nhan, founder and general director of Nanogen Company, said that Nanogen had started researching to make the Covid-19 vaccine from the beginning of March 2020 when the epidemic broke out in China. In May 2020, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued Decision 1204 approving the “List of unexpected national-level scientific and technological tasks to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic”, assigning Nanogen to research on the treatment of Covid-19.
A week later, on May 15, the Ministry of Science and Technology continued to issue a decision to assign Nanogen Company to research the Covid-19. On May 21, Nanogen Company’s research project on a vaccine against Covid-19 was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and assigned to the enterprise to organize it.
Nanogen’s representative said that the price of the product on the market will not exceed 500,000 VND/dose so that everyone can access and they are working to have the vaccine included in the list of drugs covered by health insurance.
Each person from 12 to 75 years old needs two doses, 28 days apart. This is a flu vaccine line, so the drug has an immune effect for about a year and must be re-vaccinated.
